KING ELECTED UNIVERSITY CROSS-COUNTRY CAPTAIN

George Anderson King, Jr., '18, of Washington, D. C., was elected captain of the cross-country team for the season of 1917 at a meeting of the members of this year's team yesterday afternoon. King prepared at Friends' School, Washington, D. C., but never ran in competition until his Freshman year. He was a member of the 1918 track team, winning his numerals against Yale, and was also a member of his Freshman cross-country team.

In the fall of 1915 King was on the University cross-country team and placed fourth in the dual race with Yale. He was also on the track squad and won his "H" in the two mile against Yale last May. He made a remarkable record during the past season, leading the University harriers in every meet. He finished first against Technology, fourth against Cornell, second against Yale, and sixth in the Intercollegiates at New Haven. In the Yale meet he was defeated only by Captain Overton, and in the race against Cornell led Captain Windnagle, and was the only University runner to finish among the first six.
