The local branch of the National Hughes College League will hold the first of a series of meetings at the Cambridge Boat Club tomorrow at 8 o'clock, H. B. MacDowell '78 will talk on "Speaking in the Streets and Democratic Campaign Methods." Other speakers will be William Roscoe Thayer '81, Richard Henry Dana '74, Joseph M. Thorpe and Professor William Morse Cole '90. Members of the Republican Club who intend to make campaign speeches in the interest of the coming election are especially invited, as the Hughes League believes that greater success can be obtained if such speakers are backed by older men.
Similar meetings will also be held on Wednesday and Friday evenings of this week, which will be of an informal character. These meetings are not limited to those intending to take the stump, but are also designed for all Hughes supporters who wish to contribute more than an ordinary interest in the presidential election. Active membership in the Hughes College League costs one dollar per year, but such membership is not necessary in order to attend the present meetings.
