A stiff work-out featured the practice of the relay teams yesterday. After a run of about half a mile, the short distance team practiced taking corners and then ended up with a two-lap sprint. The long distance team ran 390 yards at a good clip and later covered twelve laps with fast work for the last two.
So far very few hurdlers have reported and more candidates in this event are needed for both the University and Freshman teams. All of last year's point winners in the hurdles have graduated and therefore there is an unusually good chance for new men in this event.
The class of 1919 has responded poorly to the call for hurdlers and it is important that more Freshmen report. Those who come out now will benefit by careful coaching and greatly improve their chances of making the team in the spring. Additional candidates should report at the Baseball Cage this afternoon at 2.30 o'clock.
