The University golf team lost its first match of the spring season to the Rhode Island State team by the score of 4 to 3 on Saturday afternoon. The match was played at the Rhode Island Country Club in Providence. The order of the matches was as follows: E. P. Allis '15 lost to Hovey (1 up), J. G. Heyburn '16 lost to Dr. Gardner (6 and 5), L. H. Canan '17 won from Kenworthy (3 and 2), H. D. Bassett '18 lost to Fairchild (2 and 1), J. I. Wylde '17 won from Gammons (4 and 3), J. W. Hubbell '17 won from Bullock (5 and 4) and F. I. Amory '17 lost to Campbell (2 up).
