The policy of the new Union officers in appointing a House Committee is a very commendable one. By attending to the details of the house management, by handling any complaints that may arise, and by making minor reforms and innovations, this committee can perform an important service and can do much towards making the Union more attractive and convenient for its members. It may be true that these are functions which really belong to the officers of the Union themselves, but it is also true that some of the officers are usually men who are too busy, or too little in touch with the daily life of the Union to appreciate its smaller needs. The recognition of this by the officers and the realization on their part that those who are most interested in the Union should have a hand in its management shows their sincerity, and the new House Committee is a decided step towards Home Rule for the Union.
