UNIVERSITY AND FRESHMAN WRESTLERS PRACTICE DAILY

Over Fifty Candidates for Two Squads Working Under Direction of Coach Anderson.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

More than 50 candidates have come out for the University and Freshman wrestling teams and are now practicing daily under the direction of Coach. Anderson, former middleweight wrestling champion of the world. A novice meet will be held on January 12, which will be open to all members of the College, who have no been on the University wrestling team. Cups will be awarded to the winners of the various classifications. An excellent nucleus around which to build a team remains from last year, and with the football men that are expected to report, there should be no trouble turning out a strong team. Few Freshmen, however, have come out; and any 1919 men with any experience whatever should report in the Wrestling Room of the Hemenway Gymnasium any afternoon, except Saturday, from 4 to 5.30 o'clock.

This year's second team as well as the Freshman team will take part in meets during the latter half of the winter. The University wrestlers will meet Andover and Technology at Cambridge, Brown at Providence, Princeton at Princeton, and Yale, probably at New Haven. In addition a New England invitation intercollegiate meet will be held here early in March.

The University team this year should be strong in all classes. F. H. Dewart '17, of last year's University team, and H. L. Ettlinger '18 are excellent men in the 115-pound class, while S. Davidson '17 and L. H. Bevier '17, who tied for last year's University championship in the 125-pound class, will again be available this year. C. A. Griffin '16, S. A. Saliba '18, and P. S. York '18 are other promising men in this class. In the 135-pound class H. P. Carter '17, of last year's team, R. B. Miller '18, and A. M. Wolfman '18 will be eligible this year. H. Hall '16, of last year's team, is the best man in the 145-pound class, while E. Whittlesey '18 is the best man of the 158-pounders. Captain A. J. Weatherhead '16 of course leads in the 175-pound class, while W. B. Snow '18 is the best heavyweight. The last two classes will be considerably strengthened by the addition of several football men, among them Moseley Taylor '18, who are expected to report soon.
