EXETER TEAM DEFEATED 1919 ELEVEN 22 TO 10

FRESHMEN WEAKENED IN SECOND HALF AND EXETER SCORED AT WILL.

In spite of a lead of 10 to 3 at the end of the first half, the Freshman eleven lost to Exeter at Exeter on Saturday, by the score of 22 to 10. In the first period, Phinney scored for 1919 on a forward pass from Flower, and in the second period Bond kicked a field goal from the 20-yard line. Davis kicked Exeter's goal from placement on the 25-yard line.

In the third period Davis scored after Exeter had carried the ball straight down the field for 50 yards without a stop. Welmer failed to kick the goal, and Harvard still led, 10 to 9. Then Captain Kempton of Exeter, guarded by perfect interference, caught a punt and ran 80 yards for a touchdown. From that point Exeter was the master, and scored once again on a forward pass from Davis to Braman.

For Exeter, the work of Davis and Kempton was effective, and for the Freshmen Captain Flower, Bond, Casey and Brewer excelled.
