The University association football team defeated the Springfield Y. M. C. A. team on Soldiers Field on Saturday 4 goals to 0. The University team showed good form, and its attack was concentrated and well directed. The defense was also very good, Emmons, at goal, making many excellent stops. The most spectacular shot of the game was made by Captain Weld when he sent a beautiful kick for a score from the corner of the field, close by one of the goal posts. R. Wood '16 at right inside forward shot two of the goals, and R. C. Cooke '18 the fourth. The showing of the team was especially creditable as Springfield had already defeated Yale by the score of 5 to 2.

The Freshman association football team won its first game on Saturday against the Prospect Union team by a score of 2 to 1. The team showed up very well considering its inexperience. Acting-captain Lucas at centre-half-back and Myers at right fullback played good games for the Freshmen.
