C. T. Abeles '13 and B. Harwood '15 have been added to the crew coaching staff and are to have charge of the lower Freshman crews. Abeles was captain and coxwain of the University crew in 1912-13 and was coxswain of the Union Boat Club crew sent to the Henley regatta in 1914. Harwood has rowed on the University eight for the past three seasons. Varsity coaches Herrick and Haines will have regular charge of the three Freshman dormitory first crews and will take the lower Freshman crews at least once a week, although Abeles and Harwood will have them most of the time.
The abundance of candidates for fall rowing this season has necessitated these additions to the coaching staff in order to ensure everyone a fair share of coaching and to lessen the danger of keeping good men in inferior crews where they would go backward rather than advance in ability.
