REGULARS WIN FAST CONTEST

SPEEDY FRESHMAN TEAM DOWNED 3 TO 0 AT ARENA IN PRACTICE.

The University hockey team defeated the Freshman seven 3 to 0 in the Arena yesterday afternoon in a brisk 25-minute scrimmage. Coach Winsor had the playing surface of the Arena reduced to the same size as the St. Nicholas rink in New York where the University will meet Princeton next Saturday and the speed in consequence was considerably increased. The Freshmen have an unusually strong team this year and it was some time before the University began to score. Captain Claflin finally took the puck down the rink and drove it past Gwathmey on a clever, short shot. A few minutes later he again scored on a long drive that Gwathmey barely missed stopping. Wanamaker made the last score on a short individual rush.

After the scrimmage with the Freshmen the University defeated the substitutes 3 to 0. The University and Freshmen lined up as follows: UNIVERSITY.  FRESHMEN. Cunningham, Curtis, Townsend, l.w.  r.w., Percy Townsend, Wanamaker, l.c.  r.c., Pratt, Taylor Phillips, r.c.  l.c., Condon Baldwin, Bliss, Kissel, r.w. l.w.,  Morgan Claflin, c.p.  c.p., Thacher Morgan, p.  p., Taylor, Gardner Wylde, Harte, g.  g., Gwathmey Referee--Curtis.  Stops -- Gwathmey, 15; Wylde, 8; Harte, 3.
