ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP WON

By defeating Princeton by the score of 2 to 0 on Saturday afternoon the University soccer team won the intercollegiate soccer championship for the second year in succession. Up to Saturday's contest Pennsylvania seemed the probable champion as the University required a clear two-goal victory to gain the title. Princeton, outweighed to a man, played pluckily all the game, and not only kept Harvard from scoring more than the required majority but several times, particularly in the second period, came near scoring, on the University men.

In the first half, the ball was for the most part in Princeton's territory although occasional rushes by Boyle and Bird carried it towards Harvard's goal. Jennings had bad luck with a shot which hit the post. Francke's head stops were a big feature of Harvard's defense. Baker made the first goal after a pass from Weld. The second score came when, from a well placed corner shot by Weld, Francke headed the ball through.

In the second period, Princeton rushed the attack, and several times carried the ball into the University's territory. Nichols' work at goal saved several scores. During a scrimmage in front of Harvard's goal in the last few minutes of play it seemed as if Princeton was sure to score, but Grant carried the ball out of danger after a hard fight.

For Harvard, Weld, Grant, Baker, Nichols and Captain Francke, were the individual stars, while Jackson's work in the goal was a strong feature for Princeton. Boyle, Moore, and Bird also did well.

Election of Captain Tonight.

The University and Freshmen soccer squads will wind up their season with a dinner at the Lombardy Inn at 6.30 tonight. Next year's captain will be elected.
