FIELD EVENTS COMPASS DEFEAT

The Yale freshmen won the eighth annual dual track meet with Harvard by the score of 71 to 33 on Yale Field Saturday. The Yale men were practically invincible in the field events, allowing Harvard only two points, while on the track Harvard's runners gave them a hard tussle. The track was exceptionally fast. In the 220-yard dash E. A. Teschner '17 came within a fifth of a second of equalling the world's record, while in the quarter W. Willcox, Jr. '17 clipped the dual Yale-Harvard freshman record, covering the distance in 49 2-5 seconds.

The broad jump, in which Yale won all three places, was sensational. H. P. Clausen's jump of 22 ft., 2 1-2 in., surpassed the dual record by more than a foot.
