The Cercle Francais will hold a reception in honor of M. Eugene Brieux, the noted French dramatist and reformer, in the club rooms, Grays 17, this evening at 7.30 o'clock. M. Brieux is probably the greatest contemperary French playwright and the one best known in this country. Among his numerous works "Les Avaries," "La Robe Rouge." and "Simone" stand as examples of the best of modern French plays.
Professor George Pierce Baker '87, will introduce M. Brieux with an informal talk on his work, which will be given in English. A letter from Assistant Professor Allard, who is now serving as military interpreter in a hospital at Rouen, will be read. The treasurer's receipts from the Cercle play and the amount of the surplus which is to be given to the French and Belgian Red Cross will also be announced.
At a recent meeting of the executive committee of the Cercle, M. Brieux was elected an honorary member and this evening he will be presented with the club medal by the President.
Many members of the Faculty have been invited to be present as well as all members of the Dramatic Club and of English 47.
