THE NEW EXCHANGE PROFESSOR

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

One of the arguments often advanced in favor of the large university, is that it offers to its members opportunities for a wider field of study than is possible in a small college. Of these advantages, none are more important than the courses given by the various exchange professors from foreign universities. The exchange professor this year from the Sorbonne is Professor Lichtenberger. He gives two courses in French; one on "Renan and Contemporary Intellectual Nihilism," another on "Nietzsche." Despite the interest of two such subjects, the enrollment has been pitifully small. The only excuse for this can be lack of information about these courses. It is to be hoped that when more men realize the value of these courses, the enrollments will show a marked increase. Even if men do not regularly enroll they will do well to attend an occasional lecture.
