The University hockey team was given two scrimmages in practice in the Arena yesterday afternoon, one of about 20 minutes with the B. A. A., which was won by the latter 2 to 0, and the other of about 10 minutes with the second team, in which the first team scored a lucky goal. The work of the men was disorganized and noticeably poorer both offensively and defensively than any that has been shown of late. Blackall was given a day off, Wingate taking his place at coverpoint. In the scrimmage with the B. A. A., which was unusually rough, play was continually forced about the University team's goal. There the men foiled to cover up as well as usual, and Hicks and Gardner each managed to score once.
Against the second team the men made a little better showing, but only scored when a shot of Palmer's struck Baldwin's skate and bounced into the cage. The second team was unable to score, although they kept play in the first team's end of the rink part of the time.
