Mr. G. M. Hall, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, lectured on "The Canadian Northwest" last evening and described a country of wonderful promise and limitless opportunity. Its agricultural possibilities are evidenced by the emigration of 250,000 of the farmers of the middle west into the region during the past three years. Mineral, timber, and power resources are also promising.

On the basis of this natural wealth, industry has been growing up with amazing rapidity. Building operations and railways are pushed; banks, schools, colleges, and new cities spring up. Edmonton operates all its public utilities at a profit; it has successfully established the single tax; it is planned along the most modern lines.

This tremendous expansion gives rise to a demand for all those things which eastern education alone can supply. Engineers, lawyers, teachers, men of ability in any line, are all sure of positions and will be for some time to come.
