HOCKEY PRACTICE IN ARENA

Light Drill for Squad Yesterday.--Many Candidates Absent.--Regular Work to Start Monday.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A small squad reported at the second hockey practice of the year held at the Boston Arena yesterday, as many candidates were excused to go to New Haven.

Practice was very elementary and the men showed that they were not yet quite used to their skates. Under the direction of Coach A. Winsor '02 several forward lines were formed and sent down the ice against a defence. No attempt at scrimmage was made and no single set of forwards could be called the first line-up.

Captain H. B. Gardner '13 was, of course, absent at New Haven and with him about half of the forty or fifty men who came to the first practice on Wednesday. W. M. Washburn '15, last year's Freshman goal tender, and M. B. Phillips '15, forward and captain of the Freshman team last year, were among those who reported yesterday.
