TO START WORK ON BRIDGE
Necessary Action Has Been Taken by Boston and Cambridge Councils.
The last legal barrier to the construction of the new Stadium Bridge has been removed. Orders have been passed by both the Boston City Council and the Cambridge Common Council accepting the act of the legislature which authorizes the Metropolitan Park Commission to go ahead with the work. Bids have been called for by the Commission, but owing to some changes in the plans, the award of the contract has been delayed. The contract will be given out very soon, however, and work will then begin immediately.
The Anderson Bridge, as it will be called, will be constructed of re-enforced conereie with granite and red brick trimmings. The bridge will be 440 feet long and 60 feet wide and at each end there will be erected two memorial obelisks.
J. R. Rablin, engineer of the Metropolitan Park Commission, will have charge of the work.
