Shortly before the end of the half, on a clever play by Chadwick and Seamans, the former scored on a header. The half ended with the ball in Yale's territory.
In the second half Yale started off well and rushed the ball down the field, but Fahnestock stopped two goals in quick succession. A few minutes later Leland ran the ball over half the length of the field and scored again for Harvard. A penalty gave Harvard a free kick and Leland kicked the third goal.
