The Freshman football team will play the substitutes of the University second team in the first game of their season on Soldiers Field this afternoon. The game will be played on the Freshman field immediately after the game with Holy Cross.

Yesterday's practice was long and of an elementary nature, preparatory to the game this afternoon. The signal practice of team A was slow and at times resulted in serious bungling, noticeably when the forward pass was attempted. Out of eight tries only two passes were successful. The backfield, however, ran through their parts in snappy style.

After a thorough drill on the tackling dummy, punting for the backs and running down under kicks for the forwards, the squad was sent to the Locker Building.

The line-ups for this afternoon follow: SECOND TEAM.  FRESHMAN. King, l.e.  r.e., L.
