TEAM A SCORED TWICE

Freshman Squad Given Long Scrimmage Yesterday Afternoon.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Freshman football squad was put through a stiff practice yesterday afternoon, devoting considerable time to scrimmage. The linemen of team A started work with the tackling dummy while the backs and ends ran down under Mahan's punts. All the first squad linemen were then drilled under the supervision of Coach Gardiner and team B was put through signal practice. In this the backs fumbled continually and were unable to form any sort of interference.

Teams A and B then lined up for scrimmage, the ball being given to the former in the centre of the field. Lyman was used for good gains through the line and Mahan did some fast work around end, finally enabling McKinlock to make the first score of the day. The backs proved fast throughout play and team B had hard work to make even a pretense of a stand against them. Team A's second score was made after a number of line plays and two successful forward passes from McKinlock to Watson.

A little later in the afternoon team B succeeded in scoring twice against the first team substitutes, but with the exception of two good runs by Whitney and King, the play was ragged and uninteresting.

The line-ups were as follows:

Team A--Greene, Rollins, l.e.; Curtis, l.t.; Perkins, Townsend, l.g.; Soucy, Emery, c.; Cowen, r.g.; Gillman, Emerson, r.t.; L. Curtis, Ricketson, r.e.; Watson, Cartnell, q.b.; McKinlock, r.h.b.; Lyman, King, l.h.b.; Mahan, Whitney, f.b.

Team B--Boyden, l.e.; Lurd, l.t.; Dixon, l.g.; Winsor, e.; Williams, r.g.; Cof- fin, r.t.; Devereux, r.e.; Doherty, q.b.; Crane, r.h.b.; Gimaraes, l.h.b.; Bigelow, f.b.

First Game for 1916 Tomorrow.

The Freshman football team will play its first game of the season next Saturday afternoon with the second squad men of the University second team
