To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

In spite of an early announcement in the CRIMSON, in spite of individual announcements to 150 men, in spite of every effort on the part of the Dinner Committee, only 49 members of the Sophomore class showed enough spirit and energy to attend the first of the series of class dinners last night. Except for this pitifully small attendance, which was not even enough to cover the guarantee, the dinner was most successful; every man with whom I spoke agreed with me in this, and in saying that the speeches by L. Withington, Jr., '11 and G. E. Jones '11 were of the sort that every single member of the class should have heard.

There will be two more dinners--on April 6 and May 4--and I sincerely hope that the remainder of the class, including those who were invited to, but did not attend, this first dinner last night, will not prove so slow either in realizing their obligations to their class or in taking advantage of the privileges afforded them. W. M. E. WHITELOCK '13.
