CLOSE GAME WITH ANDOVER

Harvard defeated Andover yesterday afternoon at Andover 3 to 2. The game was well contested and the school boys almost tied the score in the ninth inning, but the favorable side of a close decision gave Harvard the last put out and the game. As usual the University team fielded in fine form but the base-running was poor and the men failed to hit at critical times. Harvard had men on second and third in the ninth inning with only one out and could not score.

McKay started the game for Harvard but in the first inning Andover secured two runs off his delivery, by means of a base on balls, a sacrifice, a hit and two fielders' choices, and he retired in favor of Ernst. The latter was hit safely six times but gave no passes and kept the hits scattered.

Harvard scored one run in the first inning. Wigglesworth singled, was advanced by Potter's single, went to third on a balk, and came home when Wright threw wild to catch him off third. In the third inning, Desha got to first on an error, went to third on Potter's second hit, and came in when McLaughlin singled. Potter was caught trying to come home on the same hit, but McLaughlin scored on Coon's hit after Babson had singled.
