The Yale baseball team opened its season on Yale Field Saturday afternoon by defeating the New York University team by a score of 5 to 2. The feature of the game was Freeman's pitching for Yale. In the three innings that he pitched, but nine men faced him, eight of whom he struck out. Scott and Hartwell, the other Yale pitchers, did good work.
Results of other college games Saturday were as follows: Princeton S. Villanova 1; Pennsylvania 4, Ursinus 2; Annapolis 5, Amherst 3; West Point 4, Dickinson 1; Brown 6, Bowdoin 2; Fordham 8, Stevens 3; Columbia 6, Rutgers 5.
