BROWN'S SEASON TO DATE

Team Has Played Consistently Well All Fall.--Individual Criticism.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The playing of the team throughout the season has been thoroughly consistent, and although the largest score was made in the first game, the team has shown steady improvement. New Hampshire faced Brown with a crippled eleven, and was therefore unable to offer any effective resistence to the university attack. Brown in this game showed the aggressive spirit which has characterized her play to date.

Rhode Island came to Andrews Field on Wednesday of the following week with one of the best teams in the history of the state institution, and for the greater portion of the time was able to hold the eleven to a very close contest. Brown, however, was able to score two touchdowns. Ashbaugh kicked both goals. This player has shown marked ability in this department of the game, and Kratz is a valuable man at the kick-off.

The team from Massachusetts Agricultural College caused Brown more difficulty than any team up to that time, even outplaying Brown at some stages of the game. The varied attack of the home team, however, finally prevailed, with the result that Massachusetts left the field with 26 points against its record.

Bowdoin also played the Providence eleven a hard game, but after the first quarter the Brown men had things pretty much their own way. The Maine college probably sent the heaviest team which has appeared on the home field this season. Brown fumbled more in this game than in the previous contests.

Little can be said regarding the Pennsylvania game which has not been already published. The Brown men had their signals perfectly in hand, and the victory was doubtless due to superior practice and coaching. The eleven knew its game and had confidence in the otucome.

Individual Criticism.

As for the individual players, Sprackling is playing in the same form which won for him last year the All-American quarterback position. Much of the team's success must be attributed to his superior playing. The eleven is, however, by no means a one-man organization. Ashbaugh at end has few, if any peers in that position, and Adams is a capable running mate. Bean, Crowther, Marble, Tenney, Jones, and Snell are all first calibre men in the backfield, and with any combination, form an effective ground-gaining machine. The line has received special coaching, and has shown steady improvement. There are plenty of substitutes this year who can fill the line positions with credit.
