The University football squad was given only light practice yesterday afternoon, consisting of a blackboard talk, a long fake scrimmage, and signal drill. In the fake scrimmage the University team was only given defensive work against several new plays of the second team's, such as Brown is likely to use on Saturday.
Smith played at left end, and will probably stay there throughout the season as his presence greatly strengthens the weaker side of the line. Lingard filled the right end position in the absence of Felton. The only other change in the line-up was the shifting of Huntington to the backfield. He was substituted for Blackall at fullback, but had little chance to show his ability in that position. Although his knee is still bothering him a little, T. Frothingham played halfback for the substitutes in signal drill.
The line-up of the University team was as follows: l.e., Smith; l.t., Jenckes; l.g., Leslie; c., Storer; r.g., Fisher; r.t., Gardiner; r.e., Lingard, Hollister; q.b., Potter; l.h.b., Reynolds, Campbell; r.h.b., Wendell, Morrison; f.b., Huntington, Blackall.
