The Freshman hockey team will play Rindge Manual Training School in the first scheduled game of its season at the Stadium this afternoon at 3 o'clock. This year the Freshman team is exceptionally strong. Practice games with Brae Burn, the Crescent Hockey Club, and the Boston Hockey Club have strengthened the seven, and team-work has improved the play of the men who are very strong individually.
The line-ups will be as follows: Practice Game Yesterday. The Freshman hockey team played a practice game with the Crescent Hockey Club in the Arena last night, and lost by the score of 5 to 1. Due largely to the roughness of the ice the team-work on both sides was poor, while the Crescents excelled in individual playing. Willetts and Sortwell were the best for 1914, but could not get by the defence. Hopkins scored in the second half for the Freshmen after a shot by Stevenson had been blocked. The Crescents scored two goals in the first half, both by Winton, and three in the second, by Skilton, Talford and Davenport. The summary: Score--Crescent Hockey Club, 5; 1914, 1. Goals--Winton 2, Skilton, Talford, Davenport, Hopkins. Referee--F. W. Paul '11. Timer--R. St.B. Boyd '14. Time--15-minute halves.
