DARTMOUTH GAME AT 3.30

Postponed Yesterday Owing to Rain, Harvard Scoring Once in 4 Innings.

Yesterday's game between Harvard and Dartmouth was ended by rain just after the beginning of the fifth inning with the score 1 to 0 in favor of Harvard. As this was less than the number of innings required to constitute a game, the contest was postponed to this afternoon at 3.30 o'clock, when the teams will line up as they commenced the game yesterday, except that Gammons may replace Mitchell for Dartmouth and McLaughlin may exchange places with Hicks.

The four innings yesterday were enlivened by two double plays, one by each team. Dartmouth was out in order in the first three innings, Hicks fanning three. At the start of the fourth inning, Norton hit a three-bagger to left centre. Brady fanned, but Daly hit a liner directly into Marshall's hands, and Norton was easily doubled at third.

For Harvard, Rogers got to base in the first inning on Orr's error but was caught at second on McLaughlin's grounder. A grounder by Hicks advanced McLaughlin to second, but he was left there when Potter fanned. In the next inning, after Minot had struck out, Lanigan and Marshall were passed. Lanigan stole second and continued to third on the catcher's poor throw to second. Another throw to second in an attempt to prevent Marshall from stealing resulted in another error, this one by Norton, who failed to get the short throw from the catcher, and Lanigan scored before the ball was recovered. Young and Babson closed the inning by hitting infield grounders, and Marshall was left at third.

In the third inning Rogers beat out a grounder to the shortstop, and McLaughlin followed with a long drive between centre and right which looked like a sure hit. Hoban got it by fast running, and Rogers, who had gone to third on the play, was easily doubled at first. Hicks was out on a grounder, and Harvard went out in order in the fourth inning. Mitchell had just reached first on Marshall's error in the fifth inning when the game was stopped by rain.

The batting orders for today: HARVARD.  DARTMOUTH.
