BASEBALL WITH HOLY CROSS

University Team to Play Second Game at Worcester.-Hicks to Pitch.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University baseball team will play its second game with Holy Cross this afternoon on Soldiers Field at 3.30 o'clock in the last game of the season before the Yale series. Reserved seat tickets at $1 will be sold at Leavitt & Peirce's before the game and at the box office on the field. General admission tickets are 50 cents.

Since the first game with Holy Cross last month, which Harvard won, 1-0, the Worcester nine has been improving rapidly, and today is hitting the ball better than any of the college teams in the East. In the game with Yale, which they won, 10-4, they knocked two pitchers out of the box, getting thirteen clean hits. Among the victories won since the first Harvard game are Trinity, 10-2, Vermont, 15-1, Tufts, 25-3, Dartmouth, 6-0, Columbia, 3-0, and Williams, 2-0. Mansfield and Dowd have alternated in the box and have pitched consistently.

A shift will be made in Harvard's line-up today in an attempt to strengthen the batting. Slater, whose hitting in every game he has pitched has been excellent, will be in centre field in place of Harvey. Leonard will be kept out of the game again and Pritchett will be at third base. Briggs has not been in the fielding practice since the Bowdoin game, but will play today. Hartford will probably pitch, and either Mansfield or Dowd for Holy Cross.

The batting order: HARVARD.  HOLY CROSS. McCall, 2b.  c.f., Cahill Briggs, 1b.  2b., Cashen Currier, c.  s.s., Barry Dexter, l.f.  c., Sweeney Simons, s.s.  1b., Carney Slater, c.f.  r.f., Mansfield or Dowd Dana, r.f.  3b., O'Rourke Pritchett, 3b.  l.f., Shea Hartford, p.  p., Mansfield or Dowd
