R. C. FOSTER '11 DISABLED

Incapacitated by Strained Tendon.--Track Practice During Recess.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

While sprinting in the Stadium last Friday, R. C. Foster '11 pulled a tendon in his right leg. This injury will undoubtedly keep him out of the Yale meet, and will probably prevent him from running in the intercollegiates. This was the first hard practice that Foster had had, as the coaches had been giving him only light work, on account of the known weakness in this leg. Foster won both the 100 and 220-yard dashes in the dual meet with Yale last year, and later in the intercollegiate games, consequently he was relied upon to win points in these meets this year, and his loss will be keenly felt.

All candidates for the University and Freshman track teams remained in Cambridge during the recess. Beginning Wednesday, practice was held daily under the direction of Coaches Donovan and Quinn with very satisfactory results.

On Saturday several track events were held, and although no times were given out, the results were in general satisfactory.

The summary:

120-yard high hurdles.--Won by J. K. Lewis '11; second, G. P. Gardner, Jr., '10; third, J. H. Noble '11.

One-mile run.--First heat won by S. B. Warner '12; second, W. A. Perkins '12; third, R. H. Rowse '12. Second heat won by P. Newton '11; second, W. K. Fernald '12; third, W. H. Lacey '12.

440-yard dash.--Won by F. M. deSelding '10; second, D. P. Ranney '12; third, S. C. Simons '11.

880-yard run.--Won by W. B. FraserCampbell '11; second, R. Warren '10; third, H. M. Warren '13.
