RACE WITH NAVY THURSDAY

Annapolis, April 15, 1910.--The Harvard crew arrived here today at 12 o'clock and immediately took a short row before lunch, practicing three racing starts which went very well. In the afternoon the crew paddled over the inside course. The work was very encouraging and the crew continued the steady improvement shown in Cambridge early in the week, getting a better proportion throughout the stroke, and quickening the catch. Owing to the change from fresh to salt water all the riggers in the new shell had to be lowered. Coach Wray followed the work in a single, the weather being splendid.

In the afternoon four Annapolis crews rowed a race over the outside course for a mile and seven-eights, the first crew winning by a good length of open water. The crew this year has five veterans from last year's eight which defeated Columbia and New York University. Although there has been somewhat of a problem in finding a stroke, the crew has developed steadily under Coach Glendon, and in yesterday's work-out looked exceedingly fast.
