"The Pipe of Desire," with music by Mr. F. S. Converse '93 was presented last Friday evening at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York. This is the first time that an opera with music by an American composer, has been performed by the Metropolitan Opera Company. From 1902 to 1905 Mr. Converse was an instructor in the Department of Music, and in 1905 was appointed assistant professor. In 1906 he gave up teaching to devote all his time to composing.
