FRESHMEN, O; ST. PAUL'S 6

1913 Hockey Team Unable to Withstand Good Team-Work of Opponents.

The Freshman hockey team was defeated by St. Paul's School at Concord, N. H., Saturday afternoon by the score of 6 to 0. This game was the next to the last of the Freshman schedule and by far the hardest, as St. Paul's School had previously defeated Princeton by the score of 4 to 0.

The Freshmen played a very good game individually, but were unable to check the persistent attack and excellent team-play of their opponents. The offence of the Freshman team showed a more thorough knowledge of the game and greater skill than the defence. Palmer in particular played well. Gardner at goal, however, was the mainstay of the team, making a number of brilliant stops after the puck had passed the other defence men.

In the beginning of the game, the St. Paul's team played with a rush so that it looked as though it would roll up a large score. In the second half, however, the Freshmen rallied and at the end were playing more as a team than they have done so far this season. With the week of practice that remains devoted to perfecting the team-play the Freshmen should be able to meet the Yale freshmen next Saturday on even terms.
