It has been announced by the University crew management that the bumping races for dormitory crews will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, November 1, 2, and 3. The races on Tuesday and Wednesday will be bumping races, while on Thursday, a final one and one-half mile scratch race will be held in the Basin between those crews that make the best showing in the bumping races of the two previous days.
Yesterday afternoon over one hundred candidates in all reported at their respective boathouses for the first day of dormitory rowing. This large number augurs well for the success of dormitory rowing this fall and it is hoped by the crew management that many more men will report, as every man or group of men will be given a chance to row on some crew. From the Weld boathouse eights were sent out representing Claverly, Randolph, Weld, and Dunster-Dana-Drayton. Besides these crews, Randolph sent out a four and a miscellaneous eight and two miscellaneous fours went out also. Weld had a sufficient number of men to make up a second eight but could not procure a shell yesterday. Four eights went out from the Newell boathouse--Westmorly, Russell, Mt. Auburn street, and a miscellaneous eight. Randolph and Mt. Auburn street, from the Weld and Newell boathouses respectively, seemed to have crews made up of the best material. All candidates should report today at the boathouse from where they rowed Yesterday at the times announced in the notice column.
This afternoon candidates for the University crew will row as follows: at 4--Davis, Anderson, Weston, Beane, Hoar, Morgan, Shillito, G. C. Cutler, C. Abeles; at 4.15--O. Richardson, Nelson, Lincoln, Parker, Peabody, Warren, Sullivan, Wiggins, Voorhees; at 4.30--Meyer, Balch, Hooper, Stratton, Metcalf, Strong, Cutler, Newton, A. Abeles.
