The Freshman football team defeated Princeton 1914 in the Stadium on Saturday afternoon by the score of 3 to 0. Except in kicking, the Freshman team slightly outplayed its opponents. Milholland's drop-kick, long runs by Willetts, Chatfield and Sortwell, and the defensive work of the Princeton ends were the features of the game.
Chatfield ran back the kick-off to the 30-yard line. Bliss punted to Princeton's 25-yard line, where Gardiner intercepted a forward pass. Harvard made first down on line plunges, but Princeton got the ball on a fumble and punted to midfield. Devereux recovered a punt on Princeton's 25-yard line. A forward pass to Howard made it first down, but a penalty for holding set Harvard back 15 yards. Milholland replaced Devereux, and on the next play kicked a field goal from the 30-yard line. The rest of the half was a punting duel between Bliss and Baker, neither team's goal being in danger.
In the second half Harvard rushed the ball to Princeton's 12-yard line, where H. E. Waller blocked Bliss's attempt at a goal from the field. In the last period, after an exchange of punts, in which a strong wind greatly aided Princeton, Baker attempted a place-kick from the 28-yard line. Just at the end of the game Curtis recovered a fumble on Harvard's 40-yard line. Two long gains by Sortwell and a few line plays put the ball on Princeton's 2-yard line, where time was called.
