The hockey game scheduled to be played with Amherst this afternoon in the Stadium has been cancelled on account of unfavorable weather conditions.
The next game for the University team will be played in the Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with the St. Nicholas team of New York. This team is one of the strongest in the New York Amateur Hockey League and defeated the University team during the Christmas recess by a score of 6 to 1 in a practice game. Captain Hicks did not play, however, and the team was handicapped by the use of substitutes in the second half. The game on Saturday should prove one of the most interesting of the schedule, as two former Harvard captains, T. B. Souther '04, and C. C. Pell '08, are playing on the St. Nicholas team.
Freshmen-Pomfret Game Off.
Owing to lack of ice, the hockey game between the Freshmen and Pomfret School, scheduled to be played at Pomfret this afternoon, has been indefinitely postponed. The Freshmen have developed little team-play in the past games, and much improvement will have to be shown if a victory is to be expected over the Yale freshmen on February 12.
