It was announced on June 30 that, at a recent meeting of the Corporation and Board of Overseers, Dr. Eliot had been elected President Emeritus of the University. This is a wholly new office created for the purpose of honoring Dr. Eliot. The Latin degree reads as follows: "Praesidem emeritum: venerandos ecclesiarum pastores fautores universitatis munificos."
