The University second baseball team defeated Tufts second by a score of 1 to 0, on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon. The game, which was close and well played throughout, evolved into a contest between the two pitchers, Long and Carter. Long showed up particularly well towards the end of the game, allowing no bases on balls and putting out a total of 10 men. Carter pitched consistently from the start and gave the University second team little chance to hit; he struck out 11 men in all, but gave two men bases on balls.
The score by innings: Batteries--Harvard: Long and Sweetser, Tufts: Carter and Chapman.
