To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

The plans for a Harvard School of Medicine in China have already been announced in the CRIMSON of April 28. These plans have long been under consideration and have been announced only after careful preparation. Such a project, having the endorsement of the it can accomplish in a field destitute of modern methods of medical treatment.

Before further proceedings are made, it will be necessary to investigate thoroughly the territory in which such a school might be established, and to report to the Trustees all the facts obtained. Dr. Martin Edwards, who was graduated last year from his four-year course at the Harvard Medical School and who was instrumental in drawing up plans for the proposed work in China, is able to undertake such an investigation and will be ready to sail in July. The Harvard Mission is endeavoring to raise the $1500 necessary for his expenses, and is relying upon graduate and undergraduate support. As it is late in the year it will be impossible for the undergraduate committee of the Mission to make a complete canvass, but contributions of from 25 cents of $10 are none the less earnestly sought from undergraduates. These should be sent to Phillips Brooks House or given to one of the following committee which has the matter in charge: E. C. Bacon '10, H. B. Barton '09, F. H. Burr '09, K. S. Cate '09, H. P. Cooper '10, R. C. Foster '11, W. P. Fuller '10, A. Gregg '11, J. M. Groton '09, E. Harding '11, L. K. Lunt '09, H. MacNider '11, D. C. McCallum 3Dv., S. A. Sargent, Jr., '10.

Immediate co-operation will be of the utmost assistance. W. R. OHLER '10.   J. M. GROTON '09.
