The University lacrosse team will leave Cambridge this evening for its southern trip. The team will take the Federal Express to Baltimore, where the first game will be played with Johns Hopkins University tomorrow afternoon. Four games will be played on the trip.
On Tuesday the team will go to South Bethlehem, Pa., where a game will be played with Lehigh on Wednesday. The team will spend Wednesday night in Philadelphia, and the next day will play Annapolis at Annapolis. Friday night the team will return to New York, and will play a game with Stevens on Saturday.
The team has had an excellent chance for development this spring, as outdoor practice began early. The University squad was picked from the work of the men in the interclass games. The defence, which is composed of veteran players, is good, and the attack has improved rapidly. The southern trip, in which the strong teams of the Southern League will be played, will give the University team a thorough try-out.
The following 16 men will be taken on the trip: Captain A. H. Cochrane '09, F. C. Alexander '10, N. J. Beals '11, G. M. Dwelley '09, M. G. Estabrook '09, H. Goepper '09, P. H. Leavitt '10, P. C. Nash '11, R. N. Shaw '10, S. S. Sheip '09, R. P. Smith '10, S. Smith '09, W. N. Thompson '09, M. Waide '10, manager, H. S. Bailey '11, assistant manager, and Coach C. L. Furber '08.
