Gift to Library by J. P. Morgan Jr.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Library has received from J. P. Morgan, Jr., '89, 86 volumes of the works of Thomas Hearne, an English antiquarian of the 18th century. The books were published at the Sheldonian Theatre, in Oxford, and are rare copies. One of the most interesting is a diary which describes the events of 1708 to 1735. Among the volumes of special interest are: Leland's 'Itinerary," Alfred's "Annals," Camden's "Annals," and Robert of Gloucester's "Chronicle," all of which were edited by Hearne.
