Professor Charles Luke Wells '79 was appointed by the Corporation yesterday to take the position in the history department temporarily left vacant by the absence of Professor Gross.
After being graduated from Harvard, Professor Wells received the degree of S.T.B. from the Episcopal Theological School in 1882. In 1893 he was given the degree of Ph.D. by the University and in the same year became professor of history at the University of Minnesota. During the past few years he has been one of the most prominent clergymen in New Orleans.
