Pasteur Medal Entries Close. at 9

All members of the University wishing to enter the competition for the Pasteur Debating Medal must hand in their names to T. M. Gregory '10, Stoughton 14, before 9 o'clock this evening.

The Preliminary trials will be held in the Assembly Room of the Union tomorrow evening, commencing at 7 o'clock. At these trials six or seven men will be retained to take part in the final contest in the New Lecture hall on Friday, December 17. Each man will make a five-minute speech in English upon the subject of the contest, "Resolved, That the French government should adopt an income tax in orders to distribute more equitably the burden of the taxation." The judges for the Preliminary trials will be J.S. Davis '08, A.N. Holcombe '07, P.B. Kennedy '09.

In judging all speeches, not only the logic and clear presentation of the subject, but also the general knowledge, manner of delivery and the literary style of the competitor; will be considered. Notes, but not manuscript, will be allowed.

For the final trial three judges will be chosen as follows: one from the French Department, one from the Department of Public Speaking, and one from the Debating council.
