Yale defeated Princeton in the annual dual track meet held at New Haven Saturday by the decisive score of 73 points to 31. Yale proved stronger in the distance runs and field events than was expected and took many points which had been conceded to Princeton.
Carey of Yale won the 100-yard dash in 10 1-5 seconds, and also the 220-yard dash in 22 2-5 seconds, with Lilley second. La Montague and Vilas were second and third respectively in the 440-yard run, the winner's time being 49 4-5 seconds. Kirjassoff was second and Spitzer third in the half-mile, which was won in 2 minutes, 1 4-5 seconds. In the mile-run, Spitzer and Cooney were second and third, winner's time being 4 minutes, 32 2-5 seconds. In the two-mile, first and third went to Brown and Weeks of Yale in 10 minutes, 9 seconds. Yale won all three places in both hurdles, Howe getting the high in 16 4-5 seconds and Robbins the low in 25 seconds. Coy and Riley tied for first in the high jump at 5 feet, 5 1-2 inches, and Daoust got second in the broad jump with 20 feet, 10 1-2 inches. The pole-vault was all Yale's with Dray, Gilbert and Nelson tying at 11 feet, 6 inches. Bushman won the shot-put at 42 feet, 3-4 of an inch. Cooney, Goebel and Bigelow got the places in the hammer-throw, Cooney's distances being 148 feet, 7 1-2 inches.
