Golf Prospects Bright This Year

This year's golf season, viewed from a comparison with the last few seasons, promises to be an exceptionally good one. Out of last year's successful team, five members are still in College: Captain H. H. Wilder '09, W. Hickox, Jr., '08, A. F. Shaw '09, and W. F. Morgan '10, regulars, and C. H. Burton '09, substitute. The following candidates have also handed in their names: C. S. Brown, Jr., '08, T. T. Clark '08, G. R. Minot '08, E. T. Clary '09, N. Harrower '09, C. H. Palmer '09, W. W. Bodine '10, F. W. Davis '10, F. R. Kirksland '10, M. MacArthur '10, H. Morris, Jr., '10, H. B. Palmer '10, and A. Sweeney '10. The following candidates have handed in their names for the Freshman team: O. M. Chadwick, H. C. Clark, A. M. Crosby, R. D. Davis, McK. Hollins, S. W. Sargent, P. M. Smith, and W. Stuart.

Regular practice is being held on the links of the Oakley Golf club. The following schedule has been approved by the Athletic Committee:

May 1.--Woodland at Woodland.

May 2.--Wollaston at Wollaston.

May 6.--Andover at Oakley.

May 13.--Country Club at Brookline.

May 23.--Oakley at Oakley.

The University championship tournaments will take place as follows at Oakley:

May 18.--1908 vs. 1909.

May 18.--1910 vs. 1911.

May 19.--Championship match between the two winning classes.

May 20.--Qualifying round for College championship, eight to qualify.

May 21.--First round.

May 22.--Semi-finals.

The finals are to be played before May 27 and gold medals will be awarded to the winner and the runner up. The following class captains have been appointed for the class tournaments. W. Hickox, Jr., '08, H. H. Wilder '09, W. F. Morgan, Jr., '10, H. C. Clark '11.

The field of candidates for the 1911 team is unusually large and contains several promising men. It is hoped that matches can be arranged with several of the preparatory schools around Boston.
