Progress of Upperclass Crews

The upperclass crews will resume work today with only three weeks remaining before the class races. So far, the material has been pretty will sifted down; but beyond getting together, most of the crews have not developed to any considerable extent. The orders in which the boats will row in the race have been nearly determined.

The Seniors have been seriously handicapped all spring by the failure of the men to report regularly. The week before recess was the first week that the regular crew got together. The material is good, but the rowing is still very ragged and the men do not seem to be able to swing together. It will require a great deal of work in the short time which remains to get them up to the standard of the other crews.

The Juniors seem to be the best developed upperclass crew. Their work is smooth and snappy, and they can row a high stroke without going to pieces. They are about on a par with the Freshmen, and if the race were to be rowed now the contest between these two crews would be very close.

Changes back and forth are still being made in the Sophomore crew, and the first boat has not been at all definitely picked. The crew has shown little progress, and the rowing is still rough. The boat is unsteady, and there are still many rudimentary faults which the men do not seem to correct.
