The announcement that Mr. Garcelon has been appointed graduate treasurer of athletics has given rise on every side to the question of just how much this appointment means, and whether or not it is in accordance with the recommendation of the Joint Committee on the Regulation of Athletic Sports, advising the Athletic Committee "to secure the services of some man who can give his entire time to the work, to act as Graduate Manager and as administrative officer." At present Mr. Garcelon's duties are by no means inclusive, but whether or not he will become such an officer depends upon future developments. We welcome his official connection with Harvard athletics in general, for we know that whatever he undertakes it will be with the same whole-hearted spirit in which he has stood behind the track team.
