The electric lighting arrangements in the Gore Hall reading and delivery rooms have been overhauled and improved during the summer, thus making both rooms much pleasanter for evening use, as well as improving their general appearance.
In the reading room the fifty 16 candle power Edison lamps used to light the wall cases have been replaced by eighteen Tungsten lamps of higher power. The new lights are much more agreeable to the eye, being protected by shades, and also effect a great saving in expense. On the tables in place of Edison lamps, tantalum lamps, less trying to the eye and one-half as expensive, have been substituted. Similar changes have been made over the catalogue cases in the delivery room, which give a more satisfactory illumination and effect a large financial saving.
The attendant's desk in the reading room has been moved, making it more convenient of access and affording a far better supervision of the room.
