BASEBALL WITH BOWDOIN

At 3.30 on Soldiers Field-Easy Game Expected-Slater to Pitoh.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University baseball team will play Bowdoin College this afternoon at 3.30 o'clock on Soldiers Field. Bowdoin has a fairly strong team this year, six of the men who played against Harvard last year being in the batting order for today. The team is the champion of the Maine colleges, having defeated Bates and Colby three times, and the University of Maine twice. The University team defeated Maine some time ago in a slow game by the score of 3 to 1. This is the only team that has met both colleges, and very little can be judged by the comparative scores, owing to the time between the two games. Wesleyan defeated Bowdoin during May by the score of 7 to 2, while Yale defeated Wesleyan early in the season, 6 to 0.

The University team defeated Bowdoin last year, 2 to 0, and Harvard ought to have an easy victory this afternoon. This game and the one next Saturday against Holy Cross, are the last tow before the Yale series, and the team should bat better than against Columbia Saturday.

Leonard will still be out of the game on account of his strained tendon, and Pritchett will play at third. The arrangement of the outfielders will probably be the same as on last Saturday, unless Captain Dexter is well enough to play. Slater will be put in the box this afternoon for the first time since the Maine game.

The batting order: HARVARD  BOWDOIN McCall, 2b.  s.s., G. Bower Briggs, 1b.  l.f., Abbott Currier, c.  r.f., McDade Pounds, r.f.  1b., Stanwood Simons, s.s.  c.f., Files Harvey, c.f.  c., Lawrence Dana, l.f.  3b., C. Bower Pritchett, 3b.  2b., Harris Slater, p.  p., Sparks
