Owing to a lack of available space on Soldiers Field to be used for baseball, it has been found necessary to discontinue the Leiter Cup series for this year. The building of the 17 new tennis courts on the field, and the necessity for a large field for lacrosse, has left no room for the diamonds which were used last year. Last year there were 21 teams entered in the series, the final championship being won by the "Alphas."
At present there are three diamonds on the field, the University diamond, the Freshman diamond, and the new diamond, which the Freshman are now using. It is probable that this last diamond will be used by the second team. The only other available space would be beyond the new Freshman diamond, where the lacrosse team is now practicing, but it would be impossible to conduct the series with only one diamond, so that it has been decided to discontinue it entirely. It is hoped that enough ground will be reclaimed before next year, so that the series may be continued again.
